I started the British motoring club of The Villages in the Spring of 2020 when I found out there was no specific club for my 1950 Riley. I saw quite a few British cars in The Villages and thought there should be a club just for them. After the club started in March of 2020 all club meetings in the Villages were shut down because of the pandemic. We decided to meet in parking lots and 8-10 cars would come every time, so we keep it going. Starting in October the Squares opened up again and we started going to the Cruise-Ins as a group. We now have 60 members and 80 cars in the club.

The goals of the club are four-fold:

1. Share what challenges there are with British cars and how to solve them.
2. Have tech sessions and meetings to show members how to fix certain problems.
3. Get our cars on the road so we can ride them and enjoy them.
4. Enjoy British car fellowship on Club Cruises and Dine Events

Starting the British Car Club in The Villages

President, Sandy Turner Wins Judges Choice Award
at the Ocala Festival of Speed on May 1st, 2021 and 
also recruits 2 new club members at the same time. 



A funny thing happened at the Festivals of Speed Show at the World Equestrian Center in Ocala. An old beat up car with scratches and dents and doors that don’t shut nicely won the Judges Award! What the hell is going on? I’m not sure, but I’m not complaining either, because it was my Riley! Maybe because the main Judge was from Scotland and he told me he always wanted a Riley. Really?? Whatever, that’s what happened! And I have witnesses and pictures to prove it! The lesson is have fun with your cars. Drive them to shows and who knows……
